I have red tailed boas I purchased last year with the hopes of breeding them. The male was very persistant through the month of September, but nothing ever came of it. I think her body fat wasn't up enough for her to allow him to do his "deed". I was going to fatten her up June through August so she'll be ready by September, but he's already at it again. She doesn't seem willing to accept his advances. Should I seperate them until September? One thing I'm worried about is the male is a little bigger than the female. A pet store owner told me she will not mate with a male thats larger than her. Is this true? Any advice will be appreciated.

Typically is the male is larger than the female he will agressivly advance on the female which might cuase her to not show interest. How much larger that the female is he. Also this might be a stupid question but is your female of breeding age?

The male is just over 6 ft and the female is about 6 inches shy of 6 ft. She is about 4 yrs old. The pet store I bought her from said she had a litter the year I bought her. Of course I know this is a widely used selling phrase, but he has several litters born at his store every year, and seems very respectable. I thought they usually breed later in the year though. Aroung september or October.
