How do you tell which type you have?

Hello,

What are the physical differences (if there are any) between adult Irian Jaya carpets & Jungle carpets? They look so alike.

Lol! For the most part they don't look anything alike. There are some exceptions but even then, they can be easily identified by sight if you look for two things.

Irian Jayas and Jungles usually differ in color. Jungles range from muddy brown to yellow with crisp black bands/stripes/markings. Iran Jayas usually have a tan background color with black banding and a inner band color ranging from yellow to redish-orange.

The second thing you want to look at is if the banding tends to fade as it nears the belly. This is specifically an Iran Jaya trait. No other carpet does this that I've seen. Now some IJ have less fading than others but they all have at least a little.

You may want to search the photo gallery for pictures so you can get a better idea of what I'm talking about.

I agree with every thing Darci said. Just like to add one thing, don't confuse the jungle yellow speckling with the inner color of the Irian bands.

Here is a pic of a jungle
