I know what dimensions I want...I need suggestions about the wood, sealants, and finishes....What works, what doesn't!!!! Any pics would be helpful too...

well only the front has to be perspex or glass (glass wont scratch but is obviously breakable) most people have used melamine or plywood to build the enclosures. dont forget to include ventilation somewhere though. i recall froggystyle, or some user name like that made a nice looking cage on a low budget and he posted pics, you might want to search back a little through the posts
now, if you really have the time and patience, you could cover the side and back walls with polystyrene foam, carve it to look like rocks and finish it wiht coloured grouot and sealent to have really nice looking custom enclosure. i spent ages doing something like that for my 75 gal aqaurium but couldnt get the plastic frmae off the top to drop it in!! next time i'll do it custom though. check the link below for information.
