first diamond clutch, need advice, Breeders Help!!!

bradh Jul 22, 2004 12:35 AM

Quickly, I have a 6 year old Python Pete 75% female and a 4 year old pure diamond male. Hadnt noticed any activity but lo and behold, she was sitting atop a clutch of 18 two days ago. 12 are a chalky white, look normal. The other 6 appear to have defects, a few are bullet shaped and the other dont seem full sized or have some discoloration. One day after she laid them my female moved off her nest and retreated to the corner of the cage where she continues to "shiver". I have taken all of the eggs, and placed them in a tupperware container with damp potting soil to keep up the humidity, buried each about halfway. The temp hovers around 79 to 81 degrees constant. My questions are:
1. Do I treat the female any differently? She hasnt eaten since November, but shows interest in food w/o striking.
2. Are her "egg warming shivers" normal?
3. Am I treating the eggs properly?
4. The odd shaped eggs.... bad? still forming? some good? At this time none seem to be rotten.... yet.
I have pics but cant figure out how to post them.
