I wouldnt worry too much. Its just settling in, and so it may take a week or two to eat.

For getting it started, I would talk to the person or place you got it from, and find out what they were feeding it. If it was eating live, I would get it switched to frozen as soon as possible. This will probably take a little time, but hopefully it was started on frozen.

Good luck, and ask any questions you want.

1. kills parisites when frozen.
2. easier toget for most people, and is cheaper if you have more than just a few animals.
3. and most importantly your snake cannot get bit/scrathed by the prey item.

I can't belive that you have not seen this somehwere. It is dicussed very frequently. You realy don't have to worry about parisites if you get them from a reliable source or you raise the in sanitary conditions you can just prekill them p/k.

The list goes on and on about the advantages. The main reasons are parasites and injury to your snake.

Live rodents carry parasites. It doesnt matter whether they live in your house or outside or whatever. They have them and can give them to your snake.

Live animals will try to defend themselves when they are trying to be killed and eaten, go figure. A rat that is being struck at will attack your snake. Not every rat will, but some of them can do pretty good damage. And when you have to start feedin rabbits, just imagine the damage that could do.

Feeding frozen is also cheaper, 9 times out of 10 at least.

Most snakes will also have a calmer feeding response with frozen.

The main reason for feeding frozen is its safer for your snake. It can be pretty risky, and annoying to have to worry about parasites constantly.
