Newspaper. I was using astro-turf until I got tired of cleaining it. Newspaper is quick and easy. I was advised to stay away from mulch-type substrates because they can harbour bacteria if they get moist. I don't know how true that is, though.

Paper-towel all the way.

I have tried Repti-Carpet (AKA Lizard Liner) as well as loose substrates (I used aspen) and have found paper-towel to be the best. Newspaper would be just as good and cheaper, though less attractive.

I can back up my claims, if you want ...

isn't that toxic to snakes? I could have my facts mixed up.

I use newspaper or computer paper

humm...maybe you should have said that because there are always new people reading this and would not know about the cedar thing. anyway

I was trying to get more people to rag on me. The forum has been a little too peaceful lately (thats why I posted the "how to" popping method below)...LOL.

I have used aspen and pine bedding for iver 30yrs, works great. Spot cleans easly. Snakes love to burrow under it. Looks great.

I never used pine, but hear it's okay (usually). I use Aspen or newspaper, both are safe, and easy to clean. Aspen drys my snakes out, cuz I use a heater in the winter and an AC in the summer, but thats the only complaint I have with it.

After seeing some really messy fecal matter, and getting sick and tired of cleaning my former substrate (astroturf) I switched to newspaper. it is an absolute cinch to clean up, which is great because I don't have enough hours in the day to fuss over substrate cleaning. I just burn the old stuff, and replace. it's free too (thank the stars for Pennysavers.)
