setup pics/ advice

Hello all,

I have adopted a RES from a friend who no longer wanted it (a gift from his girlfriend), and was threatening to throw it out or the likewise. I will physically have it this weekend. I am new to the whole turtle hobby, but have 3 crested geckos and I have already done lots of research on RES and their needs. I was just wondering if people could post some pics of their setups, no matter what they look like and how they are set up. Also, please give a short explanation of what you have going on (ie. filter systems, gallonage, basking spots, hide spots). I am just looking for some pics to compare with what my friend is giving me for the set-up. He obviously wasn't doing it right by the looks of it!! I can't wait to re-vamp this turtle's life and make it happy! fingers crossed!

thanks for all your help in advance

kyle

Here is a pic of my setup...it is a 55 gallon using a FilStar XP3 filter and a 200 watt Ebo-jager heater. I also have a small heat lamp and a strip light for UVA/UVB light. The rocks in the bottom were collected from a nearby stream and soaked in bleach solution for 2 days and then soaked in clean water for 2 days. I have a ZooMed Turtle Dock for the basking area. Hope that helps! Let me know if you want to know anything else!

Here is a pic of my setup. I don't have a RES but my set up is good enough for one. I have a 90 gal tank with one Painted turtle in it. It's not much to look at but it will be when it's done. I have been taking it slow. I just got the dock and then about 2 weeks later got the filter. I hope to get more stones to fill the bottom of the tank (they are all pushed away from the light because the ones under the light always got green) and then some bigger rocks, some driftwood and some perminate plants (fake and real). Now that I have a good enough filter the real plants won't mess up my water as much. Binx didn't get plants all the time because of the mess they made in the tank. I also hope to get a couple bigger feeder fish so the ones he doesn't eat will add some color to the tank. And of course he can still have his smaller rosie feeder fish that he eats fast. I also hope to get a couple shrimp to help keep the algie down. It was bad before I got the filter but since the filter is so new I don't know if the algie will cut back or not. Of course when I am done with all the new stuff I will post another pic.
