I've had other lizards before, but this is my first time owning a black roughneck, or any kind of monitor. I haven't gotten him yet, I just bought what I figured he'd need in his tank and I'll pick him up in a few hours. Anyway.. just kind of want to make sure I'm doing everything right, and if anyone has any suggestions to improve what I've done.
He's about two or three months old and I got him a twenty gallon tank (which I'm told will last another six-eight months), plus a waterbowl, log, climbing branch, and the substrate is mulch. ..Is that good or should I do something else? And how many crickets, worms, pinkies, raw meat, should I be giving him? Don't want to over- or underfeed him.
How long should I wait, or rather, how big should he be before ugrade to mice or feeder rats?
I already know most of these answers, but I'm not a hundred percent sure, and would feel comfortable having others that have actually taken care of some, or know how to, let me know what they do. Thanks.
