Loose tooth?

maneatingorchid Jul 22, 2004 04:42 PM

I noticed today that one of our dragons has some loose teeth on one side. We're going to have the vet remove them, but what would cause that? She's the only one with the problem, and her calcium intake has been very good, so we don't know whats up. She's a really aggressive feeder. One of her cage mates had mouth rot, but she isn't showing any signs of it, no puss, nothing.

its really hard to say what might have happened. Mouth rot can certainly cause this but if this dragon wasn't diagnosed with that then it could be from an injury. Perhaps bit at what it though was food and instead got a stick or something. I know that even after losing a portion of the tooth ridge they seem to eat quite well.

Let me know what the vet has to say about it.

Today, the loose portion seemed to be knitting back on a little more, and my boyfriend remembered that she took a flying leap out of his hand and hit a desk earlier this week, which makes us feel kind of bad, because that might have caused it. But, like I said, the "loose" part seemed more tightly in today. The vet said to give it about a week, and if it hasn't improved bring her in when we bring our other female in for a follow up on her mouth rot. In the mean time, we're just putting some chlorohexidrine on it to keep it clean.
