My veiled does the exact same thing. He is almost 4 months old. I noticed him doing it about 5 or 6 weeks ago and it hasnt caused any problems. There is speculation that they do it for minerals or something else that the dirt has to offer. Maybe he is just hungery, who knows. I feed him pretty well but dont over feed him. I also dust regularly too. I wouldnt worry too much about as long as the dirt is clean. I cover my plants with large stones but he still manages to get at the dirt. I also put some moss in between the stones but he ate that so I removed the moss.
