That's a great pic! Is that in your vivarium? If so, would you mind posting a pic of your setup? What lights do you use? I would love to get that moss to grow in my viv but the humidity isn't high enough with the screen top. Is yours fully enclosed or does it have a screen top as well?
Thanks!
hey,
this is in my vivarium but I cheated and used a spotlight for the picture. The moss and plants are easy however. I just mix 1 part peat, 1 part perlite, and 1 part water, or until the mix is close to thick pea soup. Put the mix in a tupperware container, or I've gotten fancy and built little wooden planters that the moss will grow into and cover. Yeah then I just put some different kinds of moss in and it just spreads and covers containers and branches. The top of my enclosure is all screen for good ventilation but the moss stays wet from inside the planters. Watch out for mould and pest bugs though. Oh, and my enclosure has exposure to natural sunlight for part of the day. That might be why plants and moss do so well. Good luck,
Jason
um...I'm new to this forum and I tried posting a pic of my setup but it says I have to delete some other pictures to upload more. How to you do that? hehe...not very computer savy
I'd love to see more (full size pics) of your setup. You can go to your album, pull the picture up to delete and then select edit picture (something like that). Then you'll find an option to delete it.

in order to delete a picture, you must go in the photo gallery and actually view the photo you wish to delete. when viewing the photo, one of the options is 'edit photo'. click there, and then theres a box you check to delete the photo, then click submit.
thanks alot, I'll try and find a pic of one of my moss containers for you.

This is the only real shot of the bigger setup I have saved on my computer right now. You can barely make out the edge of the tupperware container that's holding the moss. The stuff usually spreads pretty quick and hides anything that doesn't look natural. I'll try to take some more pics this week. Enjoy.
First of all, that looks great. I was just wondering how you clean your setup. Isnt it kind of hard with all that moss?
hey,
thanks, people seem to like the setup. The cleaning is pretty easy actually. I just take out the bins of moss and spray them down in the sink and then soak them in soapy dishwater. This pretty much does the trick and then I spray down the sides and branches and stuff with soapy water. I've also found that the moss forms kind of a screen so crickets and roaches can't hide and die in the terrarium and the moss and soil are bioactive and they break down gecko poop and any elusive bugs pretty efficiently. I only have toclean my setup every couple of months.
Sounds easy enough. Hey, what kind of mosses do u got growin in there. I would like to try the same thing. All i kno of is Irish moss.
great stuff......what kind of equipment are you using?

hey thanks,
I've just got a basic setup. It looks good but it's really easy to maintain. I just use a spray bottle to mist and have a little knowledge about plants. I'm a bio nerd. Umop was asking about my moss and it's pretty easy to set up and looks great. I explained in one of my other responses, but other than that, no special equipment. Theres a pic above of one of my "moss bins". Have a good one,
Jason
.....when I asked about ur equipment, I was referring to ur camera, etc.....?

haha,
sorry, I guess that was an elaborate reply about nothing at all... um, I just put a spotlight shining into the setup and my digital camera. Its a fugi s5000, but I have to take the pictures on the lowest megapixel setting there is so that they would fit on the upload page so the quality is probably similar to a regular digital.
