OK, opinions please...this little hypo girl I just got today!

stevodod Jul 22, 2004 08:10 PM

Hey,

Just purchased this female as a hypo, wanted to see what y'all thought. I know she has a little black on her, but what type of babies will she throw down in a couple years? What's the best way (male!) to get her to lay down cleaner babies? Is it ok to breed her back to her brother for better hypos or just get new stock?

Sorry for all the questions, I've been looking at the forum forever and finally have a little one to show off!

God bless,

Stevo

Nice hypo!
It is always better to out breed when ever possable, using unrelated breeders will always strengthen your gene pool. All hypos will have a varried amount of black in them.To get cleaner looking babies you may try adding a pastel to the gene pool, both genes being codominant you should get some really nice hypo pastels known as dreamline hypos(I believe). or you can breed her to another hypo and you will get a varried amount of babies, some cleaner looking than others, some less patterned, some more pink or orange etc.
Well I hope that answered your Q.

I agree with you on the pastel to help cleaning up the hypo coloration.. One correction though.. the Pastel hypos are Scarlet hypos..

I just couldn't think of it at the time, the dreamline are a certain breeders catch word for his line.
