fattail caging

I guess no one collects fattails on this forum or has any expertise to answer my question. I'll see if any of the experts at Petco has the info. Thanks anyways.- mark

I keep a fat tail.
I use repticarpet in the cage, and moist paper towel in the humid hide. I too have a UTH, also a light overhead. I have both the humid hide and a regular hide on the warm side, along with one on the cool side, and a water dish. When i spritz the humid hide, I also spritz the rest of the cage too. My fattie seems to like it, he almost always comes out and walks around just after spraying.
I dont know that it is something wrong with the caging, but maybe something wrong with the geckos, or maybe just nothing wrong, you may have to switch it up a little.
I know that i have to make sure that the crickets are around him, on his side of the tank when feeding, or else he may lose interest.
You may want to try a variety as well... Fat tails will eat crickets, meal worms, wax worms, super worms, and ive heard theyll eat butter worms as well, which are great for picky eaters.
Make sure youre temps are right, 85 or so in day, 75 at night.

Monitor them and see if there is any changes. My fat tail stopped eating for three months, we frequented the vet, and eventually, after having been fed via syringe for a while, he started up again, and hasnt slowed down yet.

Good luck,
Hope i could help.

Here is a mini cage for my rescued FT. I have a humid hide with vermiculite (very moist) and a dry hide. The hides sit 1/2 on and 1/2 off the UTH. His name is Lucky and he is doing great. I feed him about 3-4 dozen crickets a week and he has started to eat pinkies too just to fatten him up.
