Leopard Tortoise sex determination help please...

paulina Jun 22, 2003 10:45 AM

I have 2 leopards. One is 6" and one is almost 5". There tails look the same and they both look more like a v. But there plastrons are dented in slightly by the tail, but in the middle of the plastron it actually goes out at the vertical center line(don't know what it is called). I am going to try to post a pic of the too. One is hiding it's tail more then the other though. Originally I thought I had a male and female but they look the same to me now. My was visting from ca and said that her male has a much bigger tail. So I don't know...

Thanks for you help...

Also, you will probably notice that the one on the right had what looks like raised spots. This is because (what the breeder told me) it was the last to hatch out and caused it to have a huge wrinkle horizontally on the plastron. Since Wrinkles(named due to the wrinkle) has grown all most all of the wrinkle is gone now. Just fyi...
