head shaking

my 1.5 year old nubila hybrid all of a sudden started shaking his head violently and scratching at least 4 to 5 a day.I can not figure it out.I am starting to get worried.I think it is starting to affect his diet.He was as fat and as happy as can be, living outside in southern cal.,now if he trys to eat and has a fit, he won't go near his food. It's not an insect thing either,it really has me stumped.I have many igs aswell as a 24 year old rhino ig. and neither he or his mate have done anything like this.I anyone out there has seen a cyclura do this or no what may be wrong with him I would appreciate the coment. experience seems to be better then a lot of the vets around here.

Hi, I dont know if this is it but Pete here did that last year a couple of times when he was going to shed. It was like a twitching thing. It scared me a lot as it went on for days. He would do as you say and shake his head violently and then scratch at his head. It did affect his eating. After talking to several people we came to the conclusion the shed on his head was driving him nuts. He hasnt done it since last Fall so perhaps a phase??
