Once again...feeding stuff....

-ryan- Jul 23, 2004 10:28 AM

Well, I think i've decided for now I'll just keep feeding sydney whatever he wants to eat (that's good for him....he loves red pellets and anything orange) because he's on meds for pinworms right now and I'm assuming that that is probably affecting his appetite? If so, then it would be useless to really try to get him to eat anything else now, and probably not good for him, so I think I'll just keep forking out money for the repcal pellets even though he only eats the red ones....it's better than just eating crickets. I wonder why repcal hasn't thought of having seperate colors available? Like, you could buy just green if your dragon only likes green, you could buy just red if your dragon only likes red, etc. I know mine can't be the only picky dragon out there. I'm not losing hope yet though. Once he's healthy (don't know how long that will be, technically he hasn't been healthy the entire time I've had him) and fat, I can try ways to get him to eat the food he doesn't like.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions though.

I don't think that's a bad idea about the feeding.

"I wonder why repcal hasn't thought of having seperate colors available?"

You're buying more of it aren't you?

Well, that's the thing. i have to keep buying more of it because it's the only really healthy food he will eat right now...and since he only eats the red ones, you can imagine that keeping him eating a good daily diet is costing a fortune thus far. I found a company that makes bearded dragon pellets that are all red and I had them before, and he really liked them, but there's two problems with them. 1.I'm not sure how good they are for him compared to repcal, which are the proven standard pretty much. 2.I don't agree with the company that makes them and I'd rather not support them (flukers).

I guess I'll have to just keep forking over the money for a while. I'll pitch my idea of seperate colors to repcal, but I'm sure they won't go for it. Plus, I can't find a good way to get in contact with them. With other companies like zoo med, you just email them and you can talk to someone that actually seems to know what they are talking about and seems willing to share ideas and stuff like that...I tried contacting repcal and all i could get was a phone number that led to basically and automated answering machine. i'll inspect the bottle in a little bit and see if there's any other ways to contact them.

But for now I'll just keep handing out the money I guess. I can either buy them for very cheap mail order (which means I'd have to pay shipping too) or more expensive locally, so I'm going to have to do the math and see which is actually the better deal.

I had the same problem, my dragon would only eat the green ones. So I started mashing them up and mixing them in with the rest of the salad so he has no choice but to take what he gets!

Some dragons only like red, some green, some tan, or any combo.
Now, if they make each & distribute them only a couple people at any given location only want red, or what ever,,,, what do they do with the rest of them???? I think there would be way too many of them on the discount rack because no one wants the tan ones. Oh,, but wait a min... mine only eat the tan ones, don't take the tan only package away. (see what I'm getting at?)
You can't make everyone happy. I am in no way speaking for the company, but I'm pretty sure that's why you don't see them individually packaged.

Cheri has talked to the RepCal people, perhaps she has talked with them about this issue??? Cheri?

I think that's a reasonable explanation about the colors. I've never had a problem with Repcal and was probably a little quick to answer.

They actually did stop making the red ones for a bit, but added them back when people complained.

Well here, my guys fav is the greens, expect one that likes the tan, so if you send me your address, I got a few cases here of the larger bags and I can pick you out the red ones and send them to you... DO you need Juvie or Adult formula?

You can also call rep_cal and talk to the guy there, he is very nice and may be able to help you out with this also.
