trinacliff Jul 23, 2004 02:36 PM

Is there anyone in Central FL that has some fruit flies I can buy for pick up or fast shipping? Sudden baby arrived...was prepared and my cultures are dead....please help! I don't know of anywhere locally that has them.

Thanks!

Actually, I am in Ocala...but the bad news is that Ocala Exotics doesn't have any, nor do they have pinheads. 1/4" is the smallest they have. I called them and the Marion County Herp Society...neither of them were any help...didn't know of anyone that has smaller animals that require fruit flies.

I ordered some from LLLReptile, so $65 later, they'll be here tomorrow...EEEEEEEEEEEK!

Thanks for trying though.

Hey kristen!
I wouldnt worry too much if the food is coming tomorrow. It will only be a few hours, so it should be alrite. So what babies are they? Don't tell me it is from your relatively new merumontanus?! If it is..you lucky B...i mean ..person ...you lucky person you!

Thanks for the input. Actually, yes, my adult female (I have a young juvie too) ended up being gravid...well, obviously. I wasn't sure for awhile because she didn't get incredibly fat. Two live babies and one that didn't make it out of the sac...too bad I wasn't around to help it.

I've rounded up some fruit and so I have a few wild fruit flies in there, but they haven't found them yet.

Thanks! Oh, I e-mailed you about something totally different...did you get it? I sent it through Kingsnake.

Try www.flyculture.com. They're based in Orlando. The guy is very open to pickups/local dilvery. They also ship very fast, 2 days, and give tons of fruit flies.

Thanks so much! I'll give them a try!

get up off the computer and go hunting for wild bugs if worst comes to worst, just remember the stores aren't the last resort.

Thanks for the input, but I resent the implication that all I am doing is sitting on the computer trying to find FF. FYI, I have put out rotting fruit and managed to collect some, but it's still not enough. Most of the bugs around here that I can catch with a net or something are going to be too large for these little ones.

Still no luck finding anyone that is remotely close to me that has any.
