My pride and joy

drzrider Jul 23, 2004 02:40 PM

This Black Throat is my pride and joy. He was skinny when I got him, but he looked good otherwise. I knew the seller didn't take good care of him. I took him to the vet and gave him the parasite treatments. He has put on a lot of weight since then and is very active. He has grown to over 2 feet and is doing great. I am already working on another larger cage for when he gets a little bigger. It is a good thing I like to build cages since I will keep upgrading them as he grows more. I will have a room size enclosure for when he is full grown.

(I hope the picture works)

that's a very nice blackthroat you have. i have a male that is almost identical to yours but a little larger. i am moving away to college in a month, and i am trying to find a home for him, you know anyone interested?

why didnt you think about college when you bought him?

sometimes people need to make sacrafices and decisions based on what's not only best for them but what's in their pet's best interest as well. i'm not going to give him up to just anybody. i'm attempting to find someone who can give him as much, if not more care as i could if i bring him with me to college. is that wrong?

When you get a pet, you are responcible for it for its entire life... and for a monitor it could be over 20 years... so if you weren't even 20 yrs old when you got one, how could you be ready to take care of it possible for more years than you've even been alive to that point? It could live till you are 40...

most people do not consider this when buying a monitor and that is why you will see ppl get angry... most people that buy monitors have no Idea what they are getting into and have no intentions of keeping it properly for its entire life, like you who bought a monitor without thinking about things like where you are going to have space for it when you goto collage.... that means dorm life is NOT an option. You should take responciblity and get an apartment large enough for you to keep your monitor while you are in collage.

room isn't my concern. i do have an appartment, it's a financial issue. i have other monitors and pythons, and my class schedule doesn't allow me to work the hours i need to in order to feed all the animals. thank you.
