Leucistics.....

BackBeat Jul 23, 2004 09:49 PM

Has anyone else ever given thought to the Leucistic trait in the Platinum bloodline just being a randomly occuring (neither recessive or co-dom or dominant) mutation?

Do we know with 100% certainty that the Leucistic trait is carried in the Phantom and Mojave bloodlines?

Have Leucistics been produced solely from Mojave or Phantom bloodlines? .....NO

So if the jury is still out on the exact inheritance patter of the Platty line Leucies, why did Mojaves jump up to $30,000 in price??

Because they can *possibly* produce Leucistics??

This is a subject debated back and forth the last few days amongst myself and a few herper pals. Just curious to others' opinions on this subject.

Thanks for any replies and opinions.

Happy Herping.

Can you ever be 100% certain about anything? Mr. Davis has produced quite a few leucistics now. He hasn't done every possible cross yet but if you still think they are random I don't suppose you will ever be convinced.

If Mojave's really sell for $30,000 now then apparently enough people are convinced to support that price. Those people will either be right or wrong about Mojave consistently producing leucistics but anyone who buys one for that price will apparently feel the evidence justifies that size of a gamble. Perhaps there are still people waiting to be sure how albino hets work.

I have seen a few offhand references to Mojaves producing white snakes. Has this even happened once? Who? What? Where? When?

Can anyone provide a link??

Morphking: What came of your lessor platy to mojave breeding? Female mojave laid eggs? Made what babies?
