I've had a 4' BP rescue since mid June. I am not a herp person-police dispatcher that decided to take him in-Owner didn't come forward. Hes spent a lot of time at the vets (3 infections have been eradicated, surgury on belly for cut completed) Hes a good eater, and I'm *still* waiting for a danged stool for internal parasite testing. (more clear liquid-again, after feeding #3 of 2 FT 5" rats at a pop) Thats another issue...
Here's my question: the vet told me because the stitches are still in that when he sheds I would most likely have to bring him in for an assist. He just shed, and sure enough there's short, old skin hanging off all over that incision area. Are BPs mellow enough so he will ignore this until I get hooked up with the vet on Monday? (The other vet is on call this weekend & we don't speak due to his euthenasia values...hes also not a herp vet)
I'm worried he'll do something to agitate the incision area that is healing well. I'm still waiting for my 48" cage I ordered in June to arrive. Hes on heat pads (the usual cool end-warm end deal & warm is 91/cool 80 - He doesn't like the large rock hides I bought-ignores them. Likes to lay half in his water bowl a lot of the time. (I am using a shallow one so he can't really stay in it-vet said damp is ok for healing area-but not wet) I am in Florida, so I turn the heat pads off during the day because hes in an un air conditioned hallway. I live in one of those big old two-story houses with huge hallways that have breezeways. The humidity stays above 70% in the hall normally with no assist because its always humid here. It is hot as hades here during the day...90s.
Ok, I've rambled here, sorry, Sick with the danged flu. Anyone have any input?

. Sounds to me like your doing all the right things so far also. I would wait until Monday morning to take him/her to the vet. A herp vet. I know this is a day and a half away, but the ball should be alright. Just keep an eye on it to see if he's trying to rub against your rocks or anything else inside the aquarium and irritating the old wound from surgery. The vet should remove the skin pretty easily with the proper ointments, and not to mention the stitches if they are ready to come out at this point. Just be patient and observant until Monday AM.
