What breed of lizard

SaddAnn Jul 24, 2004 03:34 AM

Hi

I need to find out what breed my boyfriend had. It was big maybe 4 foot and smooth, not any scaly fringes like a green lizzard, and fat around the waist and along pointed tail. He was blackish and some tan patchs like belts went around him, I think his tounge was big and his paws were huge and sharp. He made like a ripping noise in his throte. Could he be a kokomo dragon. Do you think he will come back out of a curb sewer or where can I get one just like him in Cincinnati? Boy it was
hard to register for this site!!!!!

Thank you so much and God Bless.

It was a savanna monitor and it will not come back out of the sewer. I think you're going to have to fess up and call the city to get it out. Also, don't take it outside next time.

I went to a pet store and they showed me but he wasn't a savvana
monitor. He was bigger and blacker and his nose was more like a dog. Then they said it was probably a tay-yoo (? ) and they had one but it wasn't him either he was so much bigger and I dont think as shinie as that on his skin. Are there more breeds of big lizzards or are those all.

I didn't have him outside I was supposed to feed him but he ran right out. And tried to bite me, then he ran out the side and my big dumb dog chased him down the street and he went in the sewer. I feel so bad about this I was afraid of him and I dont
know anything about lizzards. If he wont come back I really have to find what breed he is so maybe I can get one just like him cuz it wont be good if hes gone.

Thank you so much and God Bless,

Ann

From what it sounds like it might have been a black throated monitor. Some good advice would be to go to the library and find out what kind of lizard it is by looking at pictures. I don't deal alot with monitors, but I have seen a few. Check out the link below to see if that's it.

You said they said it was a tay-yoo? Was it a Tegu? Komodo dragon, hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!! That was one of the funniest things I've ever read. No offense!

From what she wrote, it is most likely a golden tegu (tay-goo, get it?).
