Mojave Het-Lucy Rumor !?1

medusah Jul 24, 2004 12:09 PM

Can anyone elaborate on the Mojave Het-Lucy rumor floating around?

I've heard Mojave X Mojave yields an all white ball?

Seems like a lot of Dom/Co-dom animals are throwing white snakes in the last couple years. Hmmmm???

I do not know if anyone has actually done mojavexmojave, but I am pretty sure mojavexlesser platty has been done and produced a white snake. I am not sure why we have not seen pics here yet. If plattyxmojave produces white then I am pretty sure mojavexmojave will too. Craig Kade

Platty can produce a leucistic, but can a lesser platty?

According to the RDR Birthing Record page the following combos have produced the following number of leucistics for Mr. Davis:

Lesser X Phantom: 3
Platy X Lesser: 3
Platy X Phantom: 2

There has only been one lesser X lesser clutch hatch so far but it only produced two babies and no leucies. He also has a Phantom X possible Phantom (from a different line) clutch incubating but there is only one egg. I would expect that both phantom and lesser are visible hets for leucistic and speculate that mojave and perhaps even butter might be too. I think the platy is a lesser plus homozygous for a separate dilute gene that turns a lesser into a platy but doesn’t seem to have an effect on a normal.

Thanks, I always read it then forget what all produces leucistics.
