this is just a reminder about the danger of thinking that BDs are social animals. One of my customers called me after she had a clutch of babies (a Florida Orange she bought from me is the dad). She was gathering up the babies to take them outside for some sun. Her male, about 17" (tail nip) and 450g ran over jumped into the tub and snatched up a baby and before you could say Jiminey Cricket, he ate the baby.

It only takes a second for preditors to do what comes naturally so be carefull when handling BDs of different sizes. What's cute to you and me is food to a big BD.

Last year I had purchased two very nice blood dragons. I was out of town and my wife was showing a bunch of neighbor kids how the babies ate crickets. After they finished eating there was still a handful of crickets running around. She took an adult male and placed him in the baby cage to finish off the rest of the crickets. To her immediate horror he polished off one of my 6 week old blood babies in front of all the kids. When she called me to tell me I was obviously a little upset that she wouldn't think about that but she is not a big herper so it was a tough lesson learned for her and feeding time in the lion's den for the kids.
