Tricolor Breeding Question?

ccetony Jul 24, 2004 10:22 PM

I have a two-year-old pair of tricolors whom I witnessed breeding many times. I have gotten a total of four clutches and none of the 43 eggs were fertile. Any thoughts?

did you cool them?
what were your incu temps/ 78=78 days
how wet was the vermiculite?
how long were they left together, you may have missed ovulation
how long were they hooked up for? mine were locked up for 12 hrs. at a shot, and they will keep having cluches every month for two to four months even if they have only been together once and you cought the wrong time.
also to be safe have a vet check her for upper resp. infec.
i never saw it or heard it comming and i lost my girl wile she was about to drop 20 eggs tried to save them by the vet said the infec. spred to the eggs and i lost everthing.
best of luck, tom

Yes they both were cooled and we witnessed them breeding many times. Did not incubate, as the eggs were definitely infertile all four times. Has anyone else seen this, could this be because of his age. Does diet have anything to do with fertility in tricolors? (I feed mice only) thanks for your input.
