SnakeCharminGirl Jul 24, 2004 11:52 PM

Hey guys,
Im a newbie as snake handlers go, but Im interested in Tree boas, Im looking at some ABT hatchlings, but I dont know much about these snakes. Does anyone know if they are difficult feeders...if the care is hard, how big they get...all that kind of stuff?? If ya'll can give your two cents that would be so helpful.

You should try the "tree boa" forum but it is pretty quiet over there so I will try to answer some q's for you. For me, amazons are a breath of fresh air from some of the monotony I see elsewhere. Care is fairly easy but different from terrestrial snakes. They need some height with perches, some "cover" like fake plants, moss, etc. I use automatic misters but they should be misted atleast a couple times per week. Captive babies are usually very solid but always try to get established, feeding babies from legit keepers/breeders. My adults are a little nippy but all of my holdback babies produced here('02 and '03) are completely tame. Average length is 4-6' but they do not get thick and heavy so they remain very manageable. Here are a couple of my holdbacks, can you see why I like them so much?
