NC Eastern King, CB 2003 female

Peter_Jolles Jul 25, 2004 01:27 AM

I bought 2.2 of these from Ted Thompson last summer. This female weighed 246 grams yesterday (to give you an idea, my MD female weighs 675 grams and laid 14 fertile eggs this year).

This girl is well on her weigh (get it) to being a big producer for me, hopefully. By the way - the two males from this clutch make her look small.

P.S. I don't know if you can tell by the photo - but these Kings have some speckling (like 5 to 10) between the saddles. Anybody seen this before on NC Easterns or Easterns in general?

Peter, great looking pics of some nice herps. I like the diversity within your collection.

Nice animal Peter. You've got a nice collection going!
The speckling you're talking about DOES occur in some NC animals (my Cumberland county male has some) especially near the coastal areas. The closer you get to the OBK area the more likely you are to run accross some kings that actually look like weakly marked OBKs. So you could in essence get a 'generic OBK on the mainland sometimes...

Heh, heh, just kidding bud. Beautiful easterns Peter, I can't wait 'til you produce this locale. I often see those speckled patches you mention in both the GAs and the NJs that I have seen/kept/hatched. Later.
