anyone know the airports' thoughts on carry on luggage containing live little snakes?.......

is it ok?..legal?.....or not allowed?.......

just a thought with the Daytona show coming up.......(and more)..alot of people ask me and I wonder what the airlines say...

well..they may say one thing a do another...

if you call and they say it's ok.....yet end up being held in a room at the teminal by people checkers with different ideas??????

Not allowed as far as I've heard- and they are pretty much screening all bags (a snake skeleton is bound to show up on x-ray). I travel quite a bit and have dealt with airport security at dozens of airports, most are very thorough. I would think their concern would be if the animal were to get loose during flight in the passenger cabin the potential for passengers suing the airline (remember, most people fear snakes). My suggestion would be to package the snakes up just as you would to ship them by air. Luggage can get lost, so you'll want the snakes to be able to handle the potential of up to 24 hours in the box. You may end up paying an additional shipping charge. Can't hurt to talk to who ever you're flying with though and see what they say...
Good luck- and if you get an answer different than above, please post it!

If your going to the airport just get there a little early and send them to yourself Delta Dash. The snakes might even get back before you do!!...Paul.

I have encountered this before. In order to ship your snake through Delta carriers via delta dash you must be a certafied live reptile shipper with paperwork from a delta rep. If you don't have it they will not ship it. I know that American Airways will ship live animals PDQ. It's the same as delta dash and goes from the departure ticket counter to the destinations ticket counter. They must inspect the box prior to shipping so take it in and let them see it, also plan on getting there earlier than usual because I sat in the airport in Birmingham for several hours before they would ship a small carpet python. The guy at the counter refused to ship until I called the American Airways 800 number and caused a big fuss about it, so they helped me out and chewed him out...lol. So just be prepared for anything, and it still may be best to have a certafied Delta shipper ship them to you instead of going through the hassle.
