Questions on feeding hatchlings

Doug-P Jul 25, 2004 01:54 PM

Hello,
My Wife, and I have just bought a hatchling motley, amel corn. We got it saterday at the show in columbus OH. The vender said it had shed, and ate. The corn is about 12 inches.
We have a few other snakes, but we have not had anything this small. I advised my wife, not to get one this small, but you know how that goes...
If anyone can give advice on feeding a snake this small, we would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you,
Doug in TN

I would purchase The Corn Snake Manual by Bill and Kathy Love, it has alot of information. Now, I don't own a corn snake (yet!) but if it was eating fine on it's own before you bought it then i would assume that it will feed on new born mice just fine .. Someone else with more knowledge than me will probably respond to you. Just thought i'd respond in the mean-time.

Thanks,
I tryed to feed it a small pinky tonight. It showed no interest. I have only had it 24 hours, so I'm not to concerned. It looks like it has a small buldge in its mid-section, so it might have feed recently. I just have no experiance with a snake this small.

It will take pinkies. If you got it Saturday then I would leave it go at least til next Saturday then offer it a live pinkie. Let it settle in first. Best bet is try it in a deli cup by itself.
