How to separate roach sizes for different sized dragons?

jruffing27 Jul 25, 2004 02:53 PM

I was just wondering if anyone had any good ideas on how to seperate different sized roaches. I have a decent sized colony of lobsters that I use to feed my babies, juvies and adults. Its really time consuming to sit there and sort the roaches by hand one or two at a time for each sized dragon. Does anyone have a better way to do it?

Thanks,
Justin

ewwwww ,I hate roaches!

But I do have an idea, my grandparents had a grove in Florida and they use to separate the orange sizes by a "V" shape box tunnel. The bottom of the "V" had a small opening, instead of meeting, each tunnel got progessively larger. As the oranges rolled down them, the smaller ones fell through first and so on til only the larger ones were left.

You could make something like that, that the roaches would travel through like to get food at the end and they would fall into the separate areas.

oranges dont squeeze down in size like roached do. they can squeeze their bodies trough some tiny holes. Lobsters are tiny to bigin with. when born they can fit through a pinhole. as adults 1/8" hole can not stop them.

I just dump a bunch into a cup and then tip the cup somewhat to the side. adults will climb fast and can be seperated out fairly easily. after that pull out the ones that are too big to feed and dump in the rest.
