Sonoran Gopher Genetics Question!!!!!!!

nodaksnakelover Jul 25, 2004 03:09 PM

Hello,
I've got most of Corn Snake genetics down, but a bit confused about Sonoran Gophers. What's a Blizzard Sonoran? Is it a snake expressing albino, anery, and hypo all in one snake? I'm wondering what genetic make up makes a blizzard. So if a blizzard is crossed with two different Hypos, and produces the whole rainbow, anerys, albinos, Hybinos, Hypo, Ghosts, and if I recall he got a blizzard last year...Was thinking of buying one albino from one clutch, and a hypo from the other clutch, and hoping to get a variety of colors from breeding the two in the future. Would like breeders who are in the know on what makes a Blizzard to tell me what they know! Thanks! Much appreciated!
Here's a picture of my female jani for good measure...cause I love showing her off so much.

HI Russell
Thats great looking Jani you have there !

The Blizzard Sonoran is made up of Hypo , Albino and Axanthic .
The Blizzard Sonoran line is more complex then corns snakes .
From What I notice from the last 5 year working with this bloodline is the Hypo gene is dominate or co-dominate . The Hypo gene show up in everything in this bloodline that why see Hypos, Hybinos, Ghost and Blizzards and you dont see strait albinos and axanthic in this bloodline
The hypo also gene also get stronger and brighter the more generation in.
This is just my opionion , some may beg to differ.

I think if you add a new or different hypo gene to this bloodline it would make some new morphes .
I bred a Rusty/hypo to a Blizzard this year . I looking forward to seeing Rusty and Ghost in one snake some day . I imagine it will look like a patterned snow with normal eyes but only time will tell .

take care

Jason
