Hi, first time poster from Canada, I had two questions about my 2 year old african spur thigh, named Danu (think she's a girl as her tail seems too small to hold any extra parts, but I not adverse to changing her name in a couple years if I am proven wrong )

1) When I got her at age 1 her previous owner didn't do too much care of her back end and she has black stains on her thighs, and some on her legs, which I am guessing is from her stool. I soak her every two days and try to brush it off with a soft tooth brush, but as she(?)is such a small tortoise she pulls her legs in and there isn't much that can be done, does anyone have some advice for removing these dark brown, black stains on the back of her thighs? Are they harmful?

Also, 2) every tortoise book I read cautions about pyramiding, and my little girl came with all her chutes slightly raised. I have fed her a pure vegetarian diet of dandelion, romaine, wheat grass and other dark green leaves (whatever is in season up here and I can get)and make sure to give her no protein and provide a calcium supplement with no phosphorous but her chutes are still prominent, and aren't so much in my older redfoot. She spends all her time outside right now, then her winter shelf is on the window sill of our largest window. Is this more natural with a spur thigh tortoise? Her shell is nicely shaped, and a beautiful golden and brown colouring otherwise, with no obvious deformities. Should I be worried? She is active, eats well and seems healthy other wise, what can I do to help her grow up properly?

thanks for any help, Julia

p.s. does anyone know where I can get a growth chart for african spurred thighs? I want to make sure she is gaining wieght and and size at an appropriate rate, she is just 2 years old and 6 1/2 inches
