Some Temp questions

AaronFromPA Jul 25, 2004 05:56 PM

Hello I just have some final temprature questions before considering my enclosure good to go.

#1 is what is more important to my leo, belly temp or ambient air temp?

#2 Until I can get to a pet store in a couple of days I will be unable to raise the air temp at all (without greatly raising the tile temp)which currently is 86 on the hot side and drops down to roughly 76 on the cool end. The substrate temp is currently 88.5 degrees at its hottest point and it drops to around 73 degrees on its coolest spot which is inside the hide I have on the cool side.

The temp gradient drops off pretty quick which is another of my concerns. The temp goes from its hot point of 88 to around 75 within about a 6 inches. Is this gradient to steep for the geckos?

1. Belly is more important. You'll after they eat they will flatten their bellies onto the warm tile. Mine has flattened herself against my hand when she felt cold.

and no that's not too steep of a gradient, just provide enough hiding spots or nook and crannies all all the gradients. They will know when to get up and move to regulate their own heat

Good luck
