Silkworms.......

pythonmomma Jul 25, 2004 09:42 PM

My gecko perfers mealworms over crix. I was wondering if silkworms where just as nutritious as mealworms? I know they are more expensive, but I was thinking of this as a once a week thing. I don't want to use wax worms to much either. Thank you for help in advance.

The silkworms are better as a staple? I woudl be willing to buy them for her if they are that much better then mealworms. DO you know any breeders/distributors?

I've had great luck with Mulberry Farms. You may want to try them.

I'd recommend feeding them only once or twice a week.

While they are very good for your animals, you will find that you get very wet smelly dropping if you feed them as a staple diet. If only fed every 5 days or so, you won't get this problem.

Silkworms are very high in fluid, and this leads to the wet/smelly droppings, if that is all you feed.

If that doesn't bother you, feel free to feed them exclusivly and you find that you get very plump, healthy geckos.
