i have a small painted turtle, i want to get an african side neck turtle, they have the same care and temps and food and i will surley give them a roomy living place. can these species get along?

Mixing species is a bad idea. One turtle can be immuune to a disease but the other turtle may have never been around it to become immune to it and therefore could possibly get it when the two are mixed together. if you want another turtle, get a seperate enclosure.

I don't think mixing species is bad as long as they are from the same area. For example, don't mix a painted with a Aust. Snake Neck. But I think it is fine mixing a RES with a painted, or a painted with a musk, as long as you have a large enough enclosure to house them both when they are adults. So in your case I would vote against it because they are not species that would be found in the wild living next to each other. Hope this helps a little.
