Update on hatchling corn snake that wouldn't eat

SSScott Jun 22, 2003 04:04 PM

Hi again,

Well, I tried the idea suggested to me by Carol. (good idea too) But I'm afraid it did not work. But I did manage to force feed her a few hours ago and got about a teaspoon and a half of pureed pinky/chicken baby food in her. I admit it was no small task getting the tube in her... (I have very large hands) I had to enlist my 12 year old son to open her mouth with a toothpick before I inserted the tube down her throat. She took it fine and she is now back in her COVERED cage with no signs of regurge so far.

Just a couple more quick questions though... Should I force feed her again in about 5 days? Or should I try the anole head again? I suppose I would rather try the anole head, but I would like to hear some opinions from you more experienced people out there as to what my next step should be.

Thanks so much for taking the time to help me out!!!

I had an anery that wouldn't eat last year and ended up force feeding her a pinkie head. Once she had it in her mouth, she did the rest herself. Her next feed was even easier. I held the small pinkie and pushed it towards her mouth and she opened up and ate it herself.

She has eaten fine ever since.

Take care,
