New book on Cresteds

Nightshade Jul 26, 2004 09:52 AM

Don't know if everyone already knows about this or not, but Robbie Hamper just came out with a new book called "The Crested Gecko in Captivity" that runs about 9 bucks.

Just FYI for those who are dreading the 40 buck book purchase.

I have them both and they are both great. I know $40 is a bit high, but that book is worth it. Has more info and great pics. I got mine on Ebay for about $30. Might also check Amazon.com and see if there are any used available.

Robbie's book (which came out several months ago), while it does cover Crested Geckos fairly well, is not nearly as complete as the Rhacodactylus book, which covers all the Crested Gecko morphs (including a morph guide) along with all the other Rhacodactylus species.

The Rhacodactylus book by Repashy, de Vosjoli and Fast is a "must have" for anyone who's seriously into any of the Rhac species, Crested Geckos included.

I have to agree with Anthony, you definitely get what you pay for, although a 9 dollar book may be a good start for beginners to get them on the right path, like Anthony said, any serious hobbyist should have a copy of the Rhacodactylus book by Vosjoli/Fast/Repashy, it an excellent book and it covers pretty much everything on Rhacodactylus such as Gargoyles, Cresteds, Leachianus, Mossy Prehensile Tailed, Slender Prehensile tailed, and rough snouted.

its a great book packed with information, i read certain parts of it pretty much daily.

Yeah this book came out a few months ago. I talk with Robbie every time I go to the All Ohio show. I have both books and, frankly, if all one is keeping is Crested, they really don't need more than Robbie's book. The other is quite nice, and I don't have anything negative so say about it, but if money is an issue, I would rather the Hamper book.
