I recenty purchased a panther from a local pet shop and they did not know what locale or morph the panther is. I just bought it cause it had some awesome coloration and it was relatively cheap. Can someone identify which morph it is??
Thanks

Hard to say!
My GUESS would be Ambanja
hhmm...this one is a tough one. He doesn't show any typical coloration of any locale. My guess is that he is a mix. Cannot really tell without looking at him in person. From the photo, his green is not of the typical ambanja. Looks like a blend of yellow and green, which could mean he has some sambava in him. heck, it could be a three way blend of Nosey be, Sambava and Ambanja(though quite unlikely due to non presence of red or blue in his bars).
err..okay...i guess ididint really help out. But again, my guess is a blend. My guess would be Nosey be plus Sambava.
I don't know anything about panthers, but I know that Nosey Be panthers are often very greenish in the wild. The nosey "blue" chameleon we see today was produced from selective breeding etc. and from especially blue noseys picked from the wild.
Could this be a wild caught nosey be? Could it be a captive bred baby of two wild caught nosey bes?
Too bad there aren't simple DNA tests for chams to tell of their locale.
Hope you find out what kind he is, that's just my two cents.
I've been looking at some pictures and I agree with you guys he might be a mixture of somekind. Probably a Sambava. Thanks to all who replied, and here's another pic of him. This guy has some nice colours.

Now it looks like my ambilobe...lol
The first pic led me to believe that he was a mix of Nosey be, because of the blue striping around his face, and Ambaja because of the faint redness in his strips however, looking at the secong pic, you might have an Ambilobe on your hands because of the yellow with red bars (red-bar Ambilobe). Try to post more pics when he is in different color stages.
after the first pic i was thinking Sambava but after the second i have no doubt its an ambilobe. how much did you score him for?
