Collared questions! =)

Turtlegirl Jul 26, 2004 05:12 PM

Hi everybody,

Well my two female Collared lizards are still really skinny after laying their eggs, and I am giveing them water everyday (misting them with a water sprayer and spraying water on the walls inside the tank so that they can drink because I have a water dish inthe cage but I havn't seen them use it yet..) but they aren't eating that much.

I have crickets and waxworms for them, but neither of them are very active, and they're not eating very much (lol which suprises me because I have a bearded dragon who just layed a clutch of eggs and she is eating me out of house and home! )
Is it normal for them to be like that, and what other foods can I offer them that would help them to gain weight?

lol, yesterday I came into my reptile room, and I noticed that my male Collared was not in his cage!
I looked all around the room for him for about 15 minutes, and guess where I finally found the little guy?? In the TURTLE TANK!! lol, I have no clue how he managed to get himself in there, but somehow he did. lol I'm just glad that he's alright after his swim.
Here are some pictures of him:

start eating again after laying. I have some that will eat as soon as they last egg is layed , LOL but some who wait a few days or so.

It does bother you because they look so thin.

Besides the crickets and waxies, they also like superworms, and moths get them excited sometimes, when nothing else does, they like the whole jump, and catch while flying thing

If you have any grasshoppers around you that are safe, they like them also.

Just try and hang in there, they should come around and eat soon. Just keep the water available , so they don't dehydrate.

Hope they start eating like piggies for you!

Hey also thank you for the kind words about my little girl I lost, that was nice!

Great pics too, I went and saw them all, NEAT critters !

Sprayed, that you know of, some on here collect them from their porch or outside light, with a net.

Same thing as with your beardie, just make sure they come from a pesticide free place!

Thanks for the nice comment about all my scaley kids, eheheh
