Cankerworms?

iwana Jul 26, 2004 05:22 PM

Hi everyone,

I ended up finding an egg mass of cankerworms (also commonly called inch-worms, measuring worms or loopers, because of the distinct way they move) and was wondering if they would be a good feeder for chams. They were found in our yard and we don't use any chemical fertilisers or pesticides. They just hatched, so they need to be fed quite a bit anyway before being offered.

So what do you think? Potential good food? They apparently will eat just about anything, so gutloading won't be a problem.

Thanks!

They should be fine especially if they are green. Chams really like green soft bodied insects. If they have bright warning coloration they might have a bitter taste and the cham will learn they aren't good to eat. Just don't feed the worms on tomato plants or oak leaves.
