4' x 8' x 3' cage stack.

Cuda Jul 26, 2004 07:34 PM

Does anyone have any ideas on how to make a stack of cages. the cages must be 4' wide 2'tall and around 3' deep. I want to stack 4 of them tall. My main concern is the framing. any suggestions, pics ???

TIA

There is a thread on this page where somebody built a Uromastyx cage with a poplar frame. I don't remember the title but both Krystal and I responded.

You don't absolutely need a frame, however. Most cages people build themselves are frameless (i.e. panels of wood screwed together).

I that case you're basically building a box. Should be more than sufficient for the ratsnakes in your signature.

If your going to use 1/2" or thicker material (and I presume due to size you will) you can router in 1/4" to allow the pieces to slide together offering support and reducing the need for a frame.. I have a couple how toos for a 4x2x1 stack I can link you to if you would like..

Here is the 4x2x1 enclosure how to using 1/2" material.. You could add the additional 1/4" width to work out details..

I am going to do a how to for larger size as well so that hopefully will be up within the next couple of weeks.. (it would be along the lines of what you are looking to make)

Good luck and most of all have fun when you build your enclosures..
