Hey,
As far as differences go, there isn't much difference between the two locals, morphologically or phenotypically as the two forms share very similar dna. Temperament however, is one area where the two forms tend to be arguably different, as the Malaysian type has been discribed as more irrascible and short tempered, than the Sumatran form. Malaysians reared in captivity have been described as being more difficult to settle and adjust to handling than Sumatrans.

Well as usual Angel is right on target BUT I would have to disagree with the statment that captive Malaysians are "tougher customers" I personally have 2 True Malaysian captive borns that are both big sweethearts I have 3 sumatrans (supposively) that are also sweethearts I also have a wild cought malaysian and yah you can't get close to him. I don't mean to say I don't think ther isn't any truth to that. Just that you cant judge a book by its local .... or somthing like that.
(Angel I do not mean any dis-respect your info is inpeccable as usual)

Hey Kev,thanks for the reply. Can you post pics of your Malasian bloods?Since I too have one Malasian blood female.

Hey.
None taken! I have not personally owned any Malaysians, but look forward to the day when I will. While on the subject of Malaysians, my comments were based on others imperical experience with them, and what others have passed along to me. As you said, you can't always judge a book by its cover, and I know of several albeit, nasty Sumatran's if you will that would rival any mainland Blood anytime in temperment. Lets see pic's of your mainland bloods please!

malaysians are known to get much larger. I currently don't own any bloods. As soon as I can find 2.2 very red malaysians such as the one one you have pictured (although not malaysian) I'll own some more bloods. Sometimes it sucks being picky but that's just the way I am. Depending on what the albino bloods look like in person I may buy into that market.

Damn Kev! That's one fine Blood you got there! Banka??
The red seems to wash over every bit of it!
Just a comment on size but I was under the impression that Sumatran Bloods tend to be larger than Maylasians...
ax.
