and introduce myself.
I've recently aquired a juvenile green iguana. The how of it all I'm not proud of but thanks to the information on this board he has come so far.
The heat rock (that the pet store told me was fine to use) is gone and he has a brand new light with 5% UVB. The prepared iguana food has been tossed and he had his first breakfast of greens and small amount of papaya yesterday. Today the greens were gone within a few hours.
He's gone from the "docile" baby that I brought home Thursday to a darting, tail/body whipping green flash..and I love it. He seems so much happier.
My only question now is about handling him.
I held him...well he walked on my shoulder and arm...for 15 minutes Saturday and Sunday. This was before I knew that he wasn't "tame" and just wasn't feeling well so wasn't trying to get away from me.
Now when I put my hand in his cage he darts around and tries to whip his tail and I'm afraid that he's going to hurt himself. So do I just continue to talk to him when I'm feeding him or changing his water and wait a week to try picking him up again? Or do I go ahead and continue handling him to get him used to me and being picked up?
