Hey Again

Mark Banczak Jul 26, 2004 09:20 PM

I'm back up again. Hope the hatching season is treating eveyone well.
After moving to Tucson it took me a couple weeks a flailing to get back on line. The down side, I lost one of my prize Everglades on the 3-day trip out here. I thought I had things going well. I kept the car running with theair conditioner on from early AM until we stopped after dark. I doubt the car temp ever got above 80. When I got here my male Glades and male Ghost Glades had both died. (My female was the brighter of the 2 Glades). Thankfully, all of the other snakes were doing well.

Sorry to hear about the loss Mark. On an upside for me, I live in Bakersfield and have gone to Tucson a few times. Maybe I'll be able to stop by and see some of your other glades, etc. Good luck in your new location.

Hey, that's practically in my back yard. If you get down this way, definitely call. I'm settling in well and plotting an attack on the local Triaspis. Since I'm here in the territory anyway, how could I ignore those babies?

You're making me drool Mark. LOL. Triaspis will definitely be on your list I'm sure. I've seen on the Field Notes and Observation Forum that there's still some rains to come that bring out the herps. Someone posted about a week ago a nice herping trip after a rain. Terry Cox is retiring down to Arizona in a couple years. If you'd like to see some nice captive pituophis, John Ginter lives in Tucson. I've been to his house and he has a beautiful collection that he works with. I have several snakes that he produced. Don Gallagher in Phoenix is another great guy with nice snakes.

Who wouldn't want to see those in person? The pictures are incredible! Looking forward to meeting some of those folks. This will be my last assignment with the military so I may very well retire here. It's beautiful with a lot of interesting and varied territory. It would be hard to leave.

Mark
Sounds like you've made the physical and mental adjustment to Tucson. Tucson is one of my favorite places. I don't get there enough. We really enjoyed visiting Tombstone last time we were that way. The living desert museum (I believe its called something like that) is a great place to visit. John Ginter recommended for us to see it and we weren't disappointed.

Tucson will be my last assignment before I retire from the military so, hopefully, we'll love it enough to stay here. Its beautiful with a lot of varied territory. It would be tough to leave. "Terry Cox - come on down!"

Hey Mark,
Welcome back to the forum.
Sorry to hear about the glades.
Glad to hear everything else made the trip without problems.

If nothing else, I get the joy of looking for just the right replacements.
