IMPORTANT! NEED HELP ASAP on questions on rhino in classifieds!!

robertIII Jul 27, 2004 12:16 AM

hi, i am thinking about buying the rhino in the classify section from prehistoric pets. i went down and looked at him in person. now i have some questions. one you can see his pic in the classifieds, so if you can take a look and tell me what you think of him?? they say he is about 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 now is only 36 inches a normal length? he ways about 3-4 pounds i think, not sure. just wondering if its a normal size for that age or not? just curious, he looks really good, he's fiesty though, they took him out for me and he was trying to bite them. also he had blue in his mouth, is this normal? just trying to find out what to look for in a good speciaman and what to look for in a bad one. one good thing is he is shedding and eating, also he has all his digits, so i dunno? they have had him for about 2 months. so what does everyone think? your experties are greatly appreciated. thank you for any help.
-Robert

p.s i have read up on all their care and etc and have had green igs for years, just in case anyone had any questions, thanx

The only Rhino I saw for sale from Prehistoric was advertised as 20 inches long. My 2.7 year old male is 38 inches long STL and weighs 7.5 pounds. His growth has finally slowed a little bit but he grew at an incredible rate for his first 2 and 1/2 years. This is a photo of Loofah at 2 years plus 2 weeks of age.

yes thats the one i meant, i guess its 20 inches, i thought 36 for some reason? anyways just curious what did you think of it? they aren't exactly sure on the age, what would you say the age is? does it look like a good rhino? also can you tell if its male or female? sorry for sooo many questions, just excited about getting one and trying to make sure its healthy and etc. thanx

I can't tell sex from the photo and at 20 inches it's probably not noticeable yet anyway. The lizard looks to be of good weight but it looks dirty to me and I'm wondering if that's a scar on it's shoulder area?
If you're not in too big a hurry there should be hatchlings available in a month or so. Kevin usually has some nice babies or check with Bob Ehrig. Nothing cuter than a Rhino baby!! This is Loofah 22 days out of the egg.
