Vomiting and gaping mouth...please help!

llapree Jul 27, 2004 12:45 AM

After feeding my green anole, she vomited up the cricket. For about the last fifteen minutes she keeps opening her mouth wide open, almost like a dry heave. I usually do not feed her this late, but was held up at a meeting (and do not trust my roommate to feed her). Does that have anything to do with it? I'm keeping the humidity very high, but should I be worried? Is there anything I can do, or do I need to take her to the vet in the morning? Thanks in advance for any advice! She's a rescue that I've had for a few months, and you guys were great in helping me out then. I had to take her in to the vet shortly thereafter, but she checked out perfect. She's developed quite the personality and I'd hate for anything to happen to her!

The behavior (symptoms) you describe usually occur when the Anole has either eaten a prey item that is too large to easily swallow and digest or when it has eaten too much.

So does that mean everything is ok? She's stopped gaping her mouth open, so I figure that's a good sign. About how long should I wait before feeding her? Thanks!
