He is the reason I became addicted. BYW Gargoyle, I don't think that he is ugly....but most people don't think he would be considered an okeetee because he doesn't have the thick borders. I love him anyway. In fact he is the father of one of my clutches this year and his babies look pretty good.

Jimmy (draybar)

I had an amel, which to this day I cannot find since somehow it managed to unlock its cage (from the outside) lift the lid that was much too heavy for him, then scale the side of the aquarium, across the underside of the lid to the opening in the lid, and then out, a distance quite a bit longer than the snake itself. Popular theory around my house is that my little sister went to show it to one of her friends without telling me about it, and it was either lost or stolen in the process. Still wish I knew exactly what happened to him.
The next corn was a gorgeous normal from a local pet store, who has now grown to almost 5'6" in about five years.

Some of my best friends are snakes
I got my first corn, a snow, about 5 years ago from a local reptile shop. He was full grown when I got him so I have no idea how old he is but he's a daddy now which makes me happy. I will always keep one of his rugrats around. Anyway he's 4-5 feet and fat but healthy. Until I found this forum he was the biggest corn I had ever seen.

My first corn snake was a Southeast Tennessee wild caught.
I think I was about 10, so that would have been around 1969.
I used to catch corn snakes, rat snakes, king snakes, garter snakes, water snakes, green snakes, worm snakes and ring neck snakes when I was growing up.
Stayed away from those nasty black racers. I still hate them.
The water snakes had better dispositions then the racers and the water snakes around here are pretty nasty.
The first corn snake I ever purchased was a beauty that I saw at the Serpentarium in Panama City, Florida back in the mid eighties.
I kept snakes throught the eighties and then got rid of them around '90 or '91. My wife to be was uncomfortable around them. She never asked me to get rid of them or even hinted that I should get rid of them but I knew she was nervous around them so I did get rid of them.
I had a few rat snakes a couple of corns a couple of kings a hog nose a milk snake and a burmese python at the time.
I had a couple of turtles at the time too so for the next 10 years or so I spent most of my time with turtles. Doing rehab and rescue, a little bit of breeding, and a lot of trading.
Then in 2001 I got a little creamsicle corn and haven't looked back since.
My wife has learned to like my snakes and will even handle the ones I have raised personally. She doesn't really trust a few of the older snakes I have acquired from other people.
It helps that my wife is an animal lover, too. She had just never been around snakes.
We now have a total of about 50 snakes, 8 turtles (cut down a lot on them), 4 bearded dragons, a red-foot tortoise, 5 dogs and 9 cats.
Sorry to ramble....I went from first corn to life story....lol

people are stupid....are you a people?.....
thought so.......
having fun yet?......
I inherited three, three year old normals in 1991 from a friend, who was moving to live in a vegetarian household that wouldn't countenance keeping mice in their freezer (strange that they didn't have a problem with the crickets and waxworms for his other animals!).
Anyway, the male is still with me, aged sixteen and going strong. I lost one of the females fairly early on from some sort of metabolic disorder, but her sister only passed on a few weeks ago, having been in poor health for a couple of years.
I now have a total of thirteen Corns of various morphs, with forty eggs incubating and another two clutches due to be laid in the next couple of weeks. Talk about habit forming...
First corn was a malnurished normal that i got from pet land...she was about 2.5 feet when i got her and when she was given to a zoo due to military move she was 5.5 feet long. her name was princess at first then it changed to hoss.
