I was thinking of purchasing an Emerald Tree Boa. I have read that they are very tempermental. I know that all snakes will bite if provoked, but I don't want one that is over aggressive. Please reply if you can answer.
Thank you!

Hahaha, you aked the exact same thing in the GTP forum but I can't answer this one but chondros are better!!!LOL!
Yeah I asked the same question in the GTP forum because I am deciding on which species would be better and less aggressive. I don't plan on handling the snake much, if even at all, but I just don't want to get my fingers taken off everytime I attempt to clean the cage if ya know what I mean LOL
I would go with a CB Aru type GTP.

I'm sorry...what does the CB stand for? captive bred?
Yes, CB. You have had reptile experience, right?

Yes I have kept some snakes and lizards. But I haven't been on this message board before and I'm not sure what all your abbreviations mean.
The usual meaning of CB is "captive born" which could indicate that an imported female dropped babies in captivity or it is a term associated with "farm" raised, imported babies. In the case of egg layers the term CH is also applied. We usually refer to captive bred animals as CBB.

If you are asking this question because you want to handle an emerald a lot, then I would suggest that you get something else. Although emeralds will tolerate some handling, they don't like it. Any form of restraint will most likely result in a defensive bite as being grabbed or held tightly is a kin to being preyed upon. Eagles are pretty much their only predator and you can imagine how an eagle would grab an emerald from it's perch. Also, the "heat" overload to their receptors from you body heat is confusing. They also seem to be confused by arm hair. LOL
