been seeing alot of reduced lately..more

earthpig23 Jul 27, 2004 07:12 AM

I have been going to a couple of rep shows and lately there has been alot of reduced and patternless out there. Wether its a genetic trait that passes on or not I was wondering if people see trends of WC patterns...IE high gold partial stripes etc. Never really paid attention to WC/FH/CH before. Still dont I'd rather buy Cb from someone in the trade.

i'm no top dog but I have seen such variation since my first ball at 14 years old...the reduced & high gold were my fav then & still are up there in my opinion, but they are plain old balls. I have seen reduced here & there at the show near me but it hasn't been as much as you describe. it could be the vendors buying from people importing babies from a certain region that happens to have more reduction in pattern etc or they just decided to give reduced instead of a more basic look to appeal to the vendor . i just bought an adorable 25 dollar ball with reduced pattern & aberrancy..now while I don't expect a damn thing I still plan on breeding her to see if I can get any of that passed on to the kids. just something to dink around with...hopefully someone will wind up with one that has a lil more genetic power.

more than likely a locality linked aberrancy.

have you been able to produce any carbon copies? i have seen proof of inheritablity but I haven't seen anyone have it to the point of an identical match..

every snake has a different pattern. If you breed Bandeds to Bandeds, almost all (if not all) the babies will come out Banded babies. The Pattern reduction can vary....but is inheritable

If genetic I agree with the local theory. It seems alot of the BP's coming form Africa this time of year are reduced looking I have seen a couple of realy nice ones. So perhaps the region they are coming from are proned for reduced. Who knows.
Still might pick one up for 20 bucks and get it a work up from the vet and breed just for fun.
