i fed my jackson a roach this morning, which he shot off my arm (way cool)...well, i guess he got it by the rear and the roach immediatly grabbed him by the horns..the cham bit him in half and then looked like a dog with peanut butter on his nose as he kept lifting his head higher and going from side to side trying to get the other half of the roach...i reached in and knocked it off his horns and the thing started RUNNING AROUND!!!...ugh, i wanted to puke..i guess they'll survive a nuclear war and being cut in half

on another note....i'm getting pretty attached to my mantids and it's getting harder and harder to feed them to my cham...roaches, crickets and silkworm have no idea what's about the happen to them but the mantids will turn their little robotic heads (if you've watched them turn their heads toward prey you know what i'm talking about) and they see the cham stalking them...i think a few are going to be pets...anybody know how long they will live??

Yes, those nasty little bugs seem to live thru anything. They can even live with their heads cut off...they die in about a week simply because they are unable to eat. *ick*

hehehe I see you're got the mantis fever. A mantis will live for about 8 months. If you're going to keep one, I'd suggest trying to keep a female. They seem to be much more mellow and more fun to feed. The female will eat a lot (about 2 crickets every other day or every day). I happen to enjoy watching them stalk their food. They will eat just about any bug, once they learn it's food. lol Mine ate mealworm, wax worms, silkworm, and their favorite, crickets. I just left mine to roam free in my room, but she usually just stayed on this little birdcage (top off) with some plants in it. I'd put the crickets in a cup in the cage and she learned that's where the food appeared. When she was hungry, she'd be sitting inside the cup and grab the cricket even before it hit to bottom. Okay... mantis rant over.
