What he means is your "Surface" temperature should be 130 to 150 degrees, not "Air temp"!!!

Actually, its more about a range of temperatures thats of benefit. As an example, a range of 75F to 95F is better then, 85F to 120F. Monitors need cool as well as heat.

A very good range would be 65F to 150F, that gives them lots and lots of choices. That is, if you the keeper provide ways to use these temps. Just remember, they need heat for some things and cool for rest. Good Luck FR

thanks guys for your info. I already have a temp gun hahaha I have other animals just never had any animals from australia and I will post a pic of my cross some day soon once my monitor gets acclimated to his eviroment thanks guys again.

FR Jul 28, 2004 10:09 AM

I surely do not want to confuse you, but your cross did not come from Australia. It most likely came from Arizona. Also, its a cross between two species, one from Indo and the other from Oz. Which leads me to the point.

Temperature preferences and need are not bound by country borders, but by the need of the individual animal. Thats why the range of temperatures. It can pick what it wants, when it wants. That ability is key to reptiles. All of them. Thanks and happy herpin FR

hahahaha I am not dumb I know it is an australian species but bred in america because its illegal to import them so that what I meant

>>hahahaha I am not dumb I know it is an australian species but bred in america because its illegal to import them so that what I meant

Again you failed to read his entire post, either that or you skipped thru it. He stated that it was a cross between and Indo animal and an Australian one yet your follow up was this????

"hahahaha I am not dumb I know it is an australian species but bred in america because its illegal to import them so that what I meant"

Maybe you should start over eh?

I am afraid, if you did not understand what I wrote, then sadly, I will be of no help. Good Luck and I hope your monitor does well. FR
